Easy to Start A Podcast: Text To Speech Blog Posts With Odiogo

Lynn Terry sent out an email this afternoon alerting her readers to a new utility that can make your blog posts more accessible to more people. In her post “New: The ClickNews Podcast“, she shared a new free service that changes your blog post text to speech.
If you look at the top of this post, you will see a little button that says, Listen Now. The service called Odiogo and it uses text to speech technology to make a blog post into a podcast. Once installed the post is changed to audio and a feed that can be followed through ITunes is made available by clicking on the Odiogo logo in the right hand column of my site. If you wish to subscribe, just click and you’ll be taken to a page where you can subscribe. The podcast can be downloaded to an MP3 player, IPod or IPhone.
The voice sounds very robotic but the owners of the site are working to make it sound more natural.
The main reason I decided to add the service was to allow those who print disabilities, e.g. poor vision, to have better access to the information I provide. As baby boomers we all know we’re starting to age and our eyesight is starting to change. I for one have noticed that my eyes aren’t what they used to be. Making my site more accessible to my readers is an important part of my marketing plan.
The other reason I added the Listen Now button is that now my blog is a podcast on ITunes and it didn’t cost me a thing, only about five minutes to set it up. Set-up is as easy as installing a plug-in to your blog.
If you’re interested in adding Odiogo to your blog, this article at Mashable will help you get set-up.

CBC Kelly: Choosing A Niche Market & Teaching In The Manner The Market Wants To Learn
November 26, 2008 by Reba
Filed under Blog, Cross Blog Conversation with Kelly McCausey, Hot Topics
Continuing with my Cross Blog Conversation with Kelly McCausey at Sparkplugging WAHM 2.0 after reading her response to my questions to her here, I now have a bit to say and will attempt to answer her questions to me:
Do you see yourself as a Master Translator for the Baby Boomer crowd? How do you think being a Boomer affects how someone wants to learn about making an income on the internet?
First I want to respond to Kelly’s post about specialized learning. She totally steered me away from my rant about the internet marketing gurus and the email overload I’m experiencing (see my last post in this CBC)…and that’s a good thing. I was just in fit about the whole situation. However, having had some time to reflect, having unsubscribed to some lists, and totally relooking at the information I receive from the gurus, actually there’s a lot of good info there. So, totally cutting them out of my learning experience isn’t in the best interest of either my readers or myself. Plus, at least it keeps me up to date about the market, how it’s progressing, and what’s new. That allows me to report that information here on my website.
Having said that, Kelly is so right about how there is an entirely different layer of people who want to learn in a different manner than what the gurus offer. They want closer contact with their trainer. They want small chunks of information so it’s easier to manage and afford. They want a “small school” experience verses “big state university” education.
That’s where I think I want to fit in for my niche. I don’t want to be a “big guru celebrity”. I don’t want to do presentations in front of 100s, if not 1000s of people. I don’t want a big staff and big launches. I want to help a lot of people, but in a “boutique” kind of way. And to be successful, I need to find the people who want to learn in that manner.
And that leads to Kelly’s questions for me:
Do you see yourself as a Master Translator for the Baby Boomer crowd? How do you think being a Boomer affects how someone wants to learn about making an income on the internet?
Kelly, I can’t say I’m a Master Translator for the Baby Boomer crowd, not that I don’t want to become one, but I’m having a hard time finding my “groove”. I’m finding the Baby Boomer crowd to be a bit massive and it spans over a huge age range. For that reason, I’m starting to think that having Baby Boomers as my target market won’t work because it’s too large and diverse.
And actually, if I speak honestly, I’d have to admit that I errored in choosing Baby Boomers as a niche. You see, they really are not a niche, they are a demographic, and just because they are in the same demographic does not mean they have the same interests. Because their interests are so diverse, it’s hard to write to them, it’s hard to market to them, it’s hard to do anything specifically for a Baby Boomer. I need to find a niche within the demographic so I know who I’m talking to when I write, teach, and try to sell to them. And that’s a lesson anyone reading the article must consider when choosing their niche.
Answering your question about whether I think being a Baby Boomer affects how they want to learn, probably not since being a Baby Boomer doesn’t really change how a person wants to learn. There may be some characteristics of being a Baby Boomer that would lead me to believe that a “boutique” learning experience would be preferential for the demographic but I can’t say that for certain. Because the demographic is composed of so many interests, ages, income levels, etc., there’s really no way to tell and any conclusion I would draw would be an assumption. So again, I’ve chosen a demographic, not a niche and that is something I need to correct if I ever want to find success.
So, lots of self-revelation going on here. I’m actually going to have to sit down and figure out how to tighten the focus of the site, while keeping in mind that I want to maintain a “boutique” or “Master Translator” method to my information presentation.
Kelly, was there a point in time that you realized you needed to “tighten” your focus or that you realized you had chosen a demographic instead of a niche? If so, what occurred that helped you realize you needed to make a change and how did you go about making that change? If not, are you just that smart or did you just get lucky? LOL No really, I’d love to hear your comments about how people sometimes “get it wrong” and how an evolution needs to take place before they are able to make a success of their business.
Looking forward to your response.

Where Should You Host Your Money Making Blog?
November 16, 2008 by Reba
Filed under Blog, Blogging For Money, Hot Topics
If you read my last post, A Guide to Choosing a Site for Your Money Making Blog, you know I highly recommend using Wordpress on your own domain name and hosting account. But you’re probably wondering where to go to get a domain name and hosting account. This post will give you some suggestions for where to register a domain name and sign-up for a hosting account.
Domain Name – Domain names are fairly inexpensive no matter where you go. I buy all my domain names from the same place so they are easy to manage. I used to not do that, I had domain name registrations with several companies and I totally lost control. It was very hard to keep track. The company I now use, DomainsPricedRight.com, has a website that is very easy to use and they are timely about reminding you to renew. They are a reseller of GoDaddy.com domain registrations but I’m finding they are less expensive than GoDaddy.com. So my advice would be to check both.
Hosting Account – It’s best to choose a hosting account that not only charges a reasonable rate for their service but also is easy to use. Hosting companies that offer C-Panel for their control panel will make using your account simple. Also be sure they have 24/7 telephone customer service. And lastly, check to be sure they have Fantastico. Fantastico is a software program that installs other software for you. It makes installing WordPress as easy as clicking a link.
My favorite web hosting company is HostGator.com. They offer everything I recommend and are reasonably priced. Recently I noticed they have changed their hosting packages to include unlimited disk space and bandwidth, which is fabulous if you want to host any video or if your site becomes wildly popular.
I’ll be honest here, I have a HostGator account but I’m currently not using it. I started on the internet ten years ago and at that time I chose WestHost. WestHost has been fantastic for me with regard to reliability and customer service, so I’ve stayed with them. I host a lot of websites, and because I understand their control panel and it would be a great hassle to move all my sites, I’m staying with them. The only reason I don’t recommend them, especially for beginners, is they don’t use C-Panel. Sorry WestHost. However, if you’re a seasoned website builder and you’re looking for a reliable hosting company, WestHost is just that.
One other thing I want to discuss is whether to choose Linux or Windows hosting. When you go to open your hosting account you will be presented with a choice at many of the hosting companies I’m going to recommend and I want you to have some knowledge.
Linux is the operating system I use and recommend you choose. There seems to be dispute within the IT community as to which is best, but for a new user, Linux will serve you best. And from what I’ve read, it’s the most secure and most stable of the two operating systems. If you want to read a good article that compares the two systems, read Windows vs. Linux . A quote from that page sums it up for me:
While Linux is not yet able to take full advantage of ASP, it is a very popular choice as an operating system for web servers. It is widely acclaimed for its stability and that has to count for something. While Windows’ instability, although it might be somewhat anecdotal, is a subject that is often discussed, Linux’s stability is almost undisputed.
Here’s a list of hosting companies for you to compare:
- HostGator.com – C-Panel & Fantastico
- WestHost.com – no C-Panel but they do have an easy install for WordPress
- BlueHost.com – C-Panel & Fantastico
- HostICan.com – C-Panel & Fantastico
- GoDaddy.com – They have easy install WordPress but I couldn’t tell from their website if they use C-Panel & Fantastico or not.
I don’t recommend you use Blogger.com, Wordpress.com or TypePad.com for your blog, however, if you’re new, you may decide that’s the route you want to go. Customization options for these services are very limited and you won’t get decent statistics on your blog activities. You can install secondary stat tools but why go to that extra effort? Be sure to read my last post, A Guide to Choosing a Site for Your Money Making Blog.
Well, that’s enough for now. My next three posts will be a series about how to set-up your money-making blog properly. Be sure to come back!

Who Needs a Virtual Assistant?
October 6, 2008 by Reba
Filed under Blog, Hot Topics, Virtual Assistant
Internet Business Model Series
Service Business / Charge by Hour or Project
A huge percentage of the marketplace today is made up of small and home-based businesses. Some of these businesses are so small the term solopreneur was coined to describe them. The owners of these businesses are quite often stretched to their limits to get everything done and administrative work is often left to be done last. These businesses are prime candidates for virtual assistants.
On the other hand, large corporations are good candidates for virtual assistants as well. With new technology and the internet, work can be completed and turned in by a person working in a totally different location than the person assigning the work. Many large corporations are taking advantage of this ability to use offsite workers and saving thousands on not only payroll but office space, equipment and benefits.
When it comes to home-based and smaller businesses where the owner is the person who handles most, if not all the work, a virtual assistant can help that business owner focus his or her efforts where they will be most productive. By allowing a capable virtual assistant to take over some of the administrative tasks, the business owner can add value to their own time by spending it on the tasks that will grow their business. Time spent on marketing, customer service, and planning will have a much higher pay-off to their business than time spent on administrative duties. And smart business owners know this and understand the price of a virtual assistant is small in comparison to the alternative. These small business owners realize that spreading themselves too thin by trying to it all is not the wisest use of their time and as their business grows, either the marketing and managing of the business or the administrative duties will suffer.
In addition to the small business population, corporate clients are in constant need of administrative help as projects present themselves and growth occurs. The virtual assistant with the necessary skills to handle a particular project is the perfect choice for the same reasons it’s a good choice for a small business owner. The cost of a permanent employee goes way beyond the hourly rate paid to that employee. Although most large corporations are solvent and can afford to hire a permanent employee when the need arises, they are also held accountable for the bottom line and hiring someone permanently when the work could be done on a contract basis is not prudent. For this reason more and more companies are looking to the virtual assistant to handle projects and duties that used to be done in-house.
Basically many kinds of companies, from the “one-man show,” right up to the largest Fortune 500 company, are using virtual assistants. The market is wide open for the skilled professional to start and grow a successful virtual assistant business.
Now, just think how all your years of experience and the skills you’ve accumulated over the years will translate into a successful virtual assistant business. This is a business where baby boomers who have worked as executive assistants can really trump. As a boomer you not only have years of experience and the skills necessary to do the job, but you’ve had so many dealings with people in so many situations, that you’ve learned patience, time-management, client relations, and myriad of other things that will work to your advantage. What a great industry in which to grow a boomer business.
In my last post I told you about a program by Tawnya Sutherland that will help you break into the field and teach you how to start your marketing program to gain a clientele. Today I want to show you her other website and message board where you can go to learn and get your questions answered.
The link here will take you to a page on her site that sells her VA Insider Membership Club. I’m leading you to that page so you know it exists and you can see the differences between the free membership and the paid membership. The page is pretty clear showing in a table the benefits of the paid membership. Personally, I’d look around a bit, join the free membership board, and then later if you decide you want to start your own virtual assistant business, consider the paid membership only after you purchase the Virtual Business Start-Up System, well, that is, if you plan on buying the VBSS. The reason I say this is because the VA Insider Membership Club is half-price is you own VBSS. Do definitely don’t do anything right this moment, first use the free membership and then make your decision only after you’re sure you like what you see.
Next we’ll talk about the skills necessary to consider starting a virtual assistant business.
Cheers!

Beat Age Discrimination
October 1, 2008 by Reba
Filed under Blog, Business Start-Up, Everything Else, Hot Topics
Just recently I found a good website for the 50+ crowd called Eons. Basically, it’s a Facebook type site, where you sign-up and fill out a profile, maybe upload a picture of yourself, and make new friends by joining “groups”. In my opinion, the “groups” feature is the best thing about it as it’s where you meet people who have the same interest as you.
So after I joined I went about joining all the groups that had anything to do with online business. Within each group there is a place to post messages and members of the group can reply, which is great since it allows interaction, discussion, and debate. In one of the groups, the newest and most responded to messages was titled “Age Discrimination” and since it was the most recent, I started reading.
Oh my, was I taken aback. There was response after response with each person talking about how they had been discriminated against. I was aghast, if not stupefied, I actually had no idea that age discrimination was reality. I’ve heard the words, I understand why and how it can happen, I even know quite a few people who are horrified with the fact that they could be let go from their jobs because it would be so hard to find another job, but honestly, I’ve never seen it happen. The company I work for has recently hired quite a few people over 50 and upwards of 60 years old. I can’t imagine a company would actually pass on the opportunity to have people in their workforce who are so experienced. But then again, maybe I’m lucky to be working where I work.
Since reading those messages on Eons I’ve had some time to think and I’m quite sure age discrimination exists. However, you really can’t be sure. You have to consider that maybe those who cry age discrimination are truly not the best candidates for the job. Maybe their skills aren’t up to date for the job they’re applying for or maybe it shows that their ambition is languishing, you never know. If the applicant is now claiming age discrimination, maybe that person is prone to “playing the victim” and the interviewer picks up on that. After all, for every person that’s hired there are many job applicants and not only do the older ones get denied the position, right?
All I know is if you own your own business, you will never have to worry about age discrimination. There was one positive post on that message thread and it was by a person who does freelance writing. All her sales and correspondence occurs on the internet where people can’t see how she looks. In her experience, age has never been an issue, it never even comes up in discussions. So what does that tell you? Maybe, just maybe, as we age, owning an internet business is a good choice? And maybe, just maybe, we should start upgrading our computer and internet skills so we can start an internet business? What do you think? Could I be on to something?
If my grandfather who was taking computer classes in his EIGHTIES can do it, so can you. You can utilize the years while you’re still in the workforce to learn the skills you need and to start your business. Work that needs to be done to maintain a website can usually be done from your home computer in the evenings and weekends while you maintain your day job. If you still have time in the workforce, you could conceivably build a nice business that would provide you a nice income by your planned retirement date. Actually, building a profitable business on the internet in your spare time is not only possible but a very reasonable goal.
Internet marketing is a skill once learned can be used to promote and sell anything on the internet. What are your interests? What do you like to spend time doing? What are you good at? On the internet, you can find a niche for almost anything of interest. I’ve even heard talk of a website that sells tumbleweeds, and it’s VERY profitable. Can you believe that? You are blessed to be born in a time where doing business can be done from anywhere in the world with anyone in the world. Take a look at your blessings and don’t let them go to waste. If building a business on the internet is one of your goals, it’s one less “discrimination” you will have to deal with.
One of my favorite authors is Dan Miller. He has written a most wonderful book called “No More Mondays” that discusses work options for fulfilling your dreams. He also has a great newsletter, blog, and podcast at his website www.48days.com. Check it out for motivation about getting started on fulfilling your dream of working doing what you love.

Rich Schefren’s Launching a New Coaching Product
September 23, 2008 by Reba
Filed under Blog, Hot Topics, Rich Schefren Guided Profit System
I’m really sorry I didn’t get something posted about Rich Schefren’s new free report, The Uncertainty Syndrome. It became available last Wednesday, I downloaded it and started reading it with the intent of posting but it was 60 pages long and I didn’t finish it before we left for California. I ended up finishing it on the plane to LA.
Anyway, better late than never and now I find out the report was just the lead up to the launch of his new coaching program called Guided Profit System or GPS for short. I may have read about it at end of the report but I wasn’t paying attention. However, this week it was brought to my attention because the launch is Thursday at noon EST.
Right now I just want to post some info about Rich, his prior projects, this new report, The Uncertainty Syndrome, a $100,000 contest he’s having and his new GPS.
Why? Well, there may be one of you who is intereted, as this guy is smart when it comes to internet marketing, that’s why.
So, who is Rich Schefren?
I just learned about him myself but apparently he’s been around awhile. They call Rich Schefren the “coach to the Internet Gurus”. His unique philosophy about how to build real businesses online gets big money results for his clients. After Rich turned his family’s struggling clothing store into one of Soho’s hottest and hippest clothing boutiques earning $6.5 million in just three years, he invested $7500 in a hypnosis center that generated $7 million a year within four years. Over the next 2 years he established joint ventures with some major online marketing players and generated in excess of $4 million in revenue. At that point, many of those marketers secretly sought his advice to help them turn their businesses into profit-producing powerhouses.
What gurus sought Rich for coaching?
According to Rich’s media kit, Mike Filsaime, Brad Fallon, Marlon Sanders, Joel Comm & Jim Edwards to name a few. Rich has been Mike Filsaime’s business growth coach for quite some time. He’s worked with Rich one-on-one and implemented many of the strategies Mike uses to run his business. Before Mike met Rich, he was doing okay online; he made $15,000 a month. But in May 2006, that jumped to $184,000… Now he earned over $300k a month when he’s not launching a new product.
What’s Rich done in the past other than coach gurus?
Rich released the Internet Business Manifesto, apparently it was one of the most talked about and downloaded business PDF’s in the history of the internet. I haven’t read it, I just haven’t had time since I learned about his guy, but I plan to download and read it soon. According to the webpage where you can download it, it explains the #1 reason why most Internet business owners struggle, along with secrets to making it big online. If you’re interested in reading this document click the following link:
Download Rich Schefren’s Internet Business Manifesto
What’s this free report, The Uncertainty Syndrome?
Well, this report I did read, and I can say with certainty that it’s very good. At first I got a bit bored, it just talked about stuff I already knew from other marketing books, but then, somewhere it took a turn and started teaching things I not only agreed with but didn’t already know. It discusses in detail how to identify and correct the things in your business that constrain you from being successful. It was surprising to learn that quite often entrepreneurs will identify and correct the symptoms of a constraint without ever realizing what the actual constraint was.
My favorite part of the report is where he talks about making mistakes fast. All business owners are going to make mistakes, and by putting off the decisions that keep you from experiencing those mistakes, you delay the success that follows. Oh, and another favorite of mine was how he cleared up that focusing on one project at a time instead of spreading yourself over two, three, or more projects cost you a lot of money.
This report is worth your time to read. It’s 60 pages long but has diagrams and the font size is big enough to see, so it’s an easy read. Here’s the link.
Download Rich Schefren’s The Uncertainty Syndrome
What else does Rich Offer?
Rich does some crazy stuff. Like last week when he started giving away his new report for free, he ran a 24-hour Q&A session on Ustream. Yep, he made it through 24-hours.
Today I found on his blog that he’s running a contest to give away $100,000 worth of his coaching and products. Heck, that would be nice to win! It would pretty much guarantee that you could make your online business a success, wouldn’t it? Here’s what you have to do (I used an image, I didn’t want to retype it all), you can just click on the image or the following link to go sign-up:
Sign-up for Rich Schefren’s $100,000 Blog Contest Giveaway
So, what’s this Guided Profit System or GPS?
I’m not sure, Rich hasn’t given out all the details yet. All I know is it will NOT cost $10,000, it’s going to be INTENSE, you must be prepared for 30 days of MASSIVE ACTION, you must be COMMITTED, and you must be ready to move EARLY on Thursday.
Rich is going to have a Teleseminar with Jay Abraham tomorrow, September 24th to discuss The Uncertainty Syndrome report. Rich and Jay are billing it as a “constraint buster teleseminar“, and you will get a sneak peek at Rich’s new Guided Profit System. The webpage doesn’t give a time for the call, I guess they’ll give that to you when you sign up. I haven’t signed-up yet, but as soon as I finish this post, I’m headed that way. So, if you want to learn more, go sign-up right now. Here’s the link:
Rich Schefren and Jay Abraham’s Contraint Busting Teleseminar on September 24th
I’ll keep you updated as best I can, don’t forget I work fulltime, so if it requires that I make a post between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., it’s not going to happen. So the best way is for you to sign-up over at Rich’s site so they he can contact you directly at your email address.
Sorry this was long but there really was a lot of info wasn’t there?
Cheers!

The Start-Up of “Internet Marketing Boomer”
September 16, 2008 by Reba
Filed under Blog, Hot Topics, Internet Marketing Boomer Start-Up
After doing all the tech-stuff to get Internet Marketing Boomer, this beautiful website you’re reading right now, all set-up and ready to go, I found myself in the precarious situation of not knowing what to do next. It seems the business plan I had written wasn’t detailed enough, focused enough, or something. This was not a position I wanted to be in so early in the start-up of my business and I realized very quickly that it was a big mistake on my part that I was in this position. I was, and continue, to spend a lot of time writing information for this site, however, at the same time, I couldn’t quite wrap my mind around what I was trying to achieve. I knew I wanted to teach internet marketing to baby boomers, but what I couldn’t seem to figure out was exactly how I was going to do that. Yeah, it was time for me to have a sit-down with myself and figure it out.
All the research I’ve been doing to find information for this site put me into “overload”. There’s soooo much information about internet marketing and the more information I gathered, the more questions popped into my head. Where should I start, where would I find the time to write about everything I’m learning, what topics should I cover, what information was the most important to convey first, how do I present the information, how do I present the information so it’s relevant for baby boomers, and I could go on and on and on.
Well, with the help from my Traffic Secrets 2.0 Course to get my thoughts focused and the motivation of Brent’s post on goal setting and the Start Fast Finish Strong 100 Day Challenge, I’ve made some decisions.
- Rome wasn’t built in a day. Yes, Brent and I work full-time jobs and this website, as much hope as it brings me that I will some day be able to work on it instead of going to my day job, it’s just not possible to put everything we know and have learned over the last 10 years of studying the internet into words overnight. So patience and consistency will be my mantra, I will post on a regular and consistent basis.
- Too much of a good thing. There is just too much information to try to “dump” it all on a website without first having a focused plan. It’s not fair to my readers to just “dump” a bunch of unfocused information onto web pages and expect them to figure it all out. I will make a plan that will benefit my readers while remembering to stay patient and consistent with the information I’m presenting.
- I will not do this “half-ass”. Sorry for the language but after trying many things to make a living on the internet, I find that when you try to do things quickly instead of building quality over time, they don’t work, you end up with a “half-ass” product. I will not do that to my readers and in return my readers will read what I teach and reward me by using my affiliate link when they are ready to buy.
The three statements above will become my doctrine for Internet Marketing Boomer. Very soon I will finalize my plan and post it for you. You will know in advance what topics we’re going to cover and can expect those topics to be covered thoroughly in upcoming months. I’m going to cover topics in a sequential manner that you can follow easily, I even plan to use some video. I’m sure my “plan” will evolve over time as I plan to allow YOU to have input as well into what’s covered here.
And lastly, I just want to talk about the power of having a plan. Just having written this post I feel empowered. I now know what I need to do and will make every effort to actually do it. I feel energy that I didn’t have prior to making the decisions I stated above. I now feel the desire to make this website a premier place for baby boomers to learn how to make their dream of earning money on the internet a reality.
In fact, I’m now so motivated I’ve already made a decision. This post will become the first in a case-study for how we’re building the Internet Marketing Boomer website. To access the full series as it happens, just go to the Case Study category and choose Internet Marketing Boomer Start-Up. Every post in chronological order will be post there.
Next post from me? I’ll post my “plan” before we leave for California on Thursday. Brent and I will be taking the weekend off, we’re going to our youngest daughter’s volleyball tournament at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA. Texas State will be playing Pepperdine, UC Santa Barbara and Cal State Northridge over the course of the weekend. It’ll be a great weekend vacation after living through Hurricane Ike last weekend.
Until my next post…

So today, Brad and Andy released a NEW video announcing all the AMAZING bonus offers they were able to round up. Everyone who takes them up on their free offer to try their new trade journal, Net Effects, will get an unbelievably long list of free bonuses . Has it been a productive year?

12/20/08 - HOT NEWS! Gary Ryan Blair’s new program, “Got Resolutions?” is now available. Click to go to the website:
As a boomer, there are many times I wonder where my days go. Have you caught yourself saying, it’s September already? Well, yes it is September and it won’t be long till the holidays are upon us and we will be wondering where the year went.
And when the year is over we’ll be asking ourselves questions like, was it a productive year? Did I accomplish what I wanted? And did I use my time effectively and productively? I am sure a lot us can say “yes” to some areas of our life, but I’d be willing to bet we’d have to say “no” to other areas. What will it take for us to be able to say “yes” to all these questions?
I’ve been a long time fan of Gary Ryan Blair, or “The Goals Guy” as some of you may know him. Since September 22nd marks the 100 day countdown of 2008, Gary is coming forward to challenge us with his 100 Day Finish Strong Challenge!
Here are some questions Gary has put together for you to consider as you push toward the finish line and call this year a wrap:
- What specific results have you achieved so far this year?
- Are you healthier, wealthier, and wiser?
- Are you winning, losing or just holding ground?
- What results are you committed to achieve by the end of the year?
- How have you grown and what have you learned this year?
- Is there any unfinished business that needs to be tended to in your life?
- Are you actively pursuing what’s most important on a daily basis?
- What habits or behaviors do you need to change to ensure better results?
- What is the key issue that inhibits your ability to perform at your best?
Tough questions huh?
These questions help us to assess not only the goals that we set for ourselves, but also how we’ve managed our time in accomplishing these goals. And are we better off for it.
Setting goals should be the beginning step in any endeavor but how many of us actually take the time to sit down and put our goals to paper and outline the steps required to reach these goals. Setting goals for even the small things we want to accomplish will help us to be successful and have the confidence to approach the bigger endeavors we will want to achieve.
Being a baby boomer, all of us are thinking about retirement. Are we on schedule to be where we want to be when that time comes? Do we have the steps we need to take over the next few years to achieve this goal written down? Achieving this life goal will most likely require steps along the way that needs it’s own set of goals.
Financial goals aren’t the only goals we need to consider, what about those goals that are aimed at achieving a healthy and happy lifestyle? Are we maintaining a healthy lifestyle? Did we start that new hobby we’ve so desired? Have we developed some new personal relationships that will make us happy as we move forward?
Goals are important for us to have. They make it crystal clear what we want to accomplish over the long term. Our ideas and thoughts change over time and our goals can be upgraded or changed, but generally our original desires will remain in place. And basically that’s to have enough money and to be happy.
So will you join Gary and I in the 100 Day Finish Strong Challenge?

Stomping The Search Engines 2 Giveaway

So, I don’t know how many of you got all the emails last week about the free give-away that Brad Fallon and Andy Jenkins were doing with their Stomping The Search Engines 2, but let me tell you, I was inundated with email from all the “guru type” internet marketers wanting me to get the free e-course through their link. And believe me, I was interested because this was the biggest internet marketing give-away I had ever seen!
In case you haven’t given your name to all these guys yet and didn’t get all the emails, let me fill you in. Brad Fallon and Andy Jenkins wrote an audio course several years back called Stomping The Search Engines. It was a success and became a big seller in the internet marketing circles. After that, they coupled up and started a high-end membership site for people who are serious about search engine optimization. The site is called StomerNet and it costs $797 PER MONTH (yeah, I said per MONTH) to be a member.
Well, I guess they started to realize that they were missing out on a huge market of people who can’t afford the $800 a month price tag and decided to re-write their first product and came out with a sequel. At the same time, in order to catch this same market, they decided to create a printed trade journal and call it Net Effects.
So, being the great guys they are and to get Net Effects out to the masses, they decided to give the new Stomping The Search Engines 2 away for FREE when you subscribed to Net Effects. And to top that off, they were giving away the first issue of Net Effects too. I mean, who could pass up that deal? Free stuff!
It should have clued me in when I got all the emails that there was more to this “give away”. Why would anyone take the time to bother their email list with something they weren’t going to earn money on, right? Well, me, being the internet marketing hoarder I am, of course wanted my free stuff and went to make my order.
Poor Brad and Andy. There were so many people gobbling up the free offer that their servers went down. They ended up delaying the launch until the next day when they could get their act together. I made my order after everything was fixed and it was as slick as ice. Yeah, you go to make your order and even before you put in your name they’re offering another free item ( a DVD to go with Net Effects that will cost you $20 a month after the first month). I say okay to the free DVD making a mental note to cancel after I get the free one and $12.86 for shipping, press the order button.
Then came Offer #1 that was ONLY good at that very moment, and you got it, it was a really good offer.
Offer #1 was to purchase five new courses that hadn’t been released yet. The offer was sweet, purchase one at half-price and get the other four for free. These courses will retail at $197 each when they are put on the market. So, for $97 I’ll get five new DVD courses, a total of 64 DVDs. Yeah, I bought it.
Offer #2 was to purchase the “brain dump” that new StomperNet members get when they pay their first $800 payment. It’s a huge course with tons of internet marketing info. The offer was $247. Again, a pretty sweet deal and I figured since I run an internet marketing site, I need to be educated, right? So yeah, again I whipped out my debit card.
Here’s where I got a little upset but then again, I’m sure they will fix it. When I got my email receipt for the “brain dump” package, I didn’t get charged $247 as the offer said, I got charged $274! Does someone at StomperNet have dyslexia? So far I’ve emailed twice with no response. They owe me $28. I’m sure they are super busy and will eventually give me my credit, I just need to be patient. Well, it’s not like I won’t email them AGAIN this week <<wink, wink>>.
In the end I feel I got a fabulously good deal but really, I need to wait and see how good the information is. I’ll probably get everything late next week or the week after and I’ll start pouring through it. Then I’ll make a post with my assessment.
If you’re interested in getting the free deal, it’s still being offered. The links on this page are my affiliate links and if you decide to buy I’d super duper appreciate you using my link, even if you don’t buy anything, even if you just want the free stuff.
You just need to click over to the Stomping The Search Engines 2 unbelievably annoying page that starts playing announcement music loudly every time you go there (it’s okay the first time when you want to see the video, but don’t go twice ~ annoying!!). Watch the video, read about the product, and then click on the link at the bottom of the page to get signed up and order your FREE stuff.
I know not everyone has a weakness for internet marketing learning materials like me but none the less, you really should at least take advantage of the free stuff. You can’t beat an offer like this, I’m sure you see that, just hold on to your horses when you hit the upsell pages and click on the “no thanks” buttons (not like me clicking “I WANT IT”!!).
Here’s my link again, CLICK IT for:
I’ll let you know what I think when I get the STUFF!!
