This is Day 9 of 10 of my tips to help you increase your online business profits in 2009.
By making just a few changes in the ways you handle a few little things each day, you can grow your business and increase your profits substantially.
Stay tuned over the next ten days and I will share ten important ideas that can help you increase your business and grow your profits in 2009.
Day 9 -
GET WITH THE TIMES
It’s 2008 and drawing ever closer to 2009. We were supposed to have flying cars by now but instead we have iPods and eBooks. Still, it’s pretty advanced compared to even 15-20 years ago, heck, even 10 years ago! A lot of internet marketers stick to what has made them money ‘in the past’ or they follow a business model that worked for somebody else, ‘in the past.’
But, what’s important is right now.
If a new product comes out tomorrow that sweeps the nation and everybody MUST have one — your job as a marketer is to go out and market it! Why would you stay back and market beepers or pagers, when iPhones and BlackBerries are the latest and greatest?
Most of the time, Amazon.com and eBay.com will be selling the latest and hottest products on the market and therefore you can get a piece of the action by promoting these items as an affiliate. Even the greats have to ‘get with the times’ every now and then. Great music artists like Paul McCartney write songs that fit the style of the current time. In the 60’s he was writing “She Loves You, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!” and in the 80’s he was writing “Silly Love Songs” and “Ebony and Ivory” which was very much 80’s style music.
Getting with the times is an essential part of your business — online or off — and it will most certainly result in your business growing and your profits increasing.
Here are some things you can do to ‘Get With the Times’ as far as your internet business is concerned:
- Get into video marketing
- Use Web 2.0 techniques
- Make your site look modern
- Be involved in social networks (twitter, etc.)
- Have video on your site, as well as new looking Web 2.0 graphics
- Sell Products that are popular NOW, in the current time (day, week, month)
- Follow the latest rule changes so you can keep up with effective SEO techniques (A lot of people use very outdated SEO tactics that don’t work anymore).
- Use LSI Techniques when doing SEO for your site or when writing optimized articles, etc.
- Build a list of opt-in subscribers using a squeeze page or a give away
- And anything else that is new, groundbreaking, effective, creative and profitable!

This is Day 5 of 10 of my tips to help you increase your online business profits in 2009.
By making just a few changes in the ways you handle a few little things each day, you can grow your business and increase your profits substantially.
Stay tuned over the next ten days and I will share ten important ideas that can help you increase your business and grow your profits in 2009.
Day 5 -
USE OFF-LINE MARKETING TO ENHANCE YOUR ONLINE EFFORTS
This is a method a friend of mine is using with great success and I’m a bit surprised at how well it’s actually working. And it will work for MANY online niches. Some that should work well are:
- Make Money Online Opportunities
- Work from Home
- Weight Loss
- Travel
- Health/Fitness
- Beauty
There are quite a number of ways you can market offline for your online business. One very basic way is to have business cards made with your website address (URL) printed nice and big on the card. Leaving these business cards in the appropriate places (provided you have permission) works wonders!
For example, if you have a website that is in the ‘make money online’ niche, the best places to leave your business cards would be next to things that have to do with money. Next to the scratch-off lottery tickets at a convenience store or gas station is an excellent place to put a stack of cards that says “Make Money Online, Work From Home” or something related and more specific, such as “Earn $500 from Home!” and of course have your website URL nice and bold.
This can generate a lot of website traffic that you may NEVER have gotten if you hadn’t put business cards in these key places. The weight loss niche is also a hot one. You can leave business cards at ice cream shops, burger places, gyms, spas, gas stations, convenient stores, etc. and get a great response as well.
Besides business cards there are: Flyers, Car Magnets, Signs, Newspaper Ads, Television or Radio Ads (can get a little expensive, but can also produce excellent results). Getting a local radio station to mention your URL and a brief description or sales pitch for your site can get you a lot of business and be very much worth a couple thousand dollars.
You can get as creative as you want with offline promotions. You can do direct mailing. You can also put little signs in the ground where there’s a lot of traffic (similar to the campaigning signs you see around everywhere, only yours will advertise your site). It is important not to break any city, county or federal rules and laws with these marketing efforts so always do your research as to what is allowed and what isn’t.

ADD A NEW NICHE TO YOUR BUSINESS AND ADD A NEW INCOME STREAM

Day 3 -
START OUTSOURCING
Every successful person and/or corporation is involved in outsourcing of some sort. Usually, this is the very key that allowed them to achieve their current level of success. If Sam Walton had made all the products in WalMart himself, do you think the company would be where it is today? The fact that the company can outsource the work to enough people who know what they’re doing (employees, vendors, etc.), is what makes them able to reach the level of success they have achieved.
You’ve heard the term, “two heads are better than one.” This rings true in a lot of aspects of life. It’s like that with outsourcing. If you can write five articles a day, that is great. However, if you can write five a day and outsource another five articles per day, then that makes ten articles a day instead of five.
That just DOUBLED your marketing efforts. If you DOUBLE your output, you will have DOUBLE the results. Imagine if you outsourced even more often or on a broader scale. Also, outsourcing will allow you to use the millionaire mindset of knowing there are people out there who can do a better job than you when it comes to certain tasks or skills. So instead of competing against these people, hire them!
Think about it, if you outsource a sales letter to a TOP sales copywriter, chances are your product offer will convert A LOT more than it would if you wrote your own sales copy or used a writer without experience to get a bargain. WIth excellent copywriting, an offer will tend to convert much better and sell many more copies — which again, enhances your business as well as increases your profits.
Tomorrow – Day 4
START USING VIDEO MARKETING

By just making a few changes in the ways you handle a few things each day, you can enhance your business and increase your profits substantially. Are you doing everything you possibly can to make the most of your business or are you leaving money behind?
Over the next ten days I will discuss ten important (possibly critical) ideas that can help you increase your business as well as your profits.
Day 1 -
PRIORITIZE
The first thing you must consider when trying to grow your business and/or increase your profits in 2009 or anytime, is that you must learn to ‘prioritize’ while working and trying to complete projects.
For example, when planning your day (hopefully you do this task the night before), consider what’s more important, hanging out on Twitter or your favorite messageboard, or writing an article (or two or three) to promote your website? It’s obvious the latter should be a higher priority, even though Twitter and messageboards can be valuable in your marketing plan. However, which one do you often choose? I often find myself spending much more time on Twitter than I should (hours <<grin>>) when I could be doing much more for my business.
It takes anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour to write an article. Couldn’t Twitter, your favorite messageboard, and maybe even your email, wait until you finish the article?
I have found that I have to make myself focus and prioritize the things I know I need to do or the day will be gone. Once my tasks are prioritized, I will work through the list and then reward myself with time on Twitter and reading blogs and posts on forums. Not to say that time on the social networking websites isn’t important, but those activities are fun and you may not realize how much time has past.
Staying away from social networks until higher priority work is done is just one example of what you can do to better prioritize your time. One problem faced by many business owners who operate online is checking their stats or email more often than needed (yes, that’s me). This habit will take you away from important tasks that should be getting done.
Learn to strategically prioritize everything you need to get done in a day. Prioritize which projects or tasks you will work on first and in order of importance. One time management book I read recommends listing only the five most important things you need to do each day on your To Do list. List everything else on a second page. Only add to the top page when those five items are done and NEVER list more than five items. This helps you focus on what’s most important.
Tomorrow – Day 2
ADD A NEW MARKETING TECHNIQUE TO YOUR ROUTINE
Cheers!
